I just want to tell you that your story is wonderful. I found your blog quite by accident; I was reading Felicity (American Girl Book) to my daughter, and was curious about a horse named after a coin, a penny – and did they have that in 1774…. But i found your blog at a time I just needed it….
… Pennies from heaven is huge in my family. When my father passed 8 years ago (As of August 23) we found pennies everywhere. It started one morning a penny (seemed) to fall out of nowhere (it very well have been stuck to my body, I had just woken up, it was a hot night, and my bed is where I used to dump everything). I called my mom and we were sure it was a sign. A few days later my friend and I were talking and she said “I have a message from your dad, he was in my dream” I had written my dad letters hoping he could see them from heaven, I was 21, and about to leave for college, but doubting my major. No one knew I wrote these secret letters to my dad- I was afraid they would think I was crazy. My friend proceeded to inform me that in her dream she saw a penny, went to pick it up, and when she looked up my dad was there and told her to tell me that he was proud of me, and I would be successful at whatever I decide to do in life. I went NUTS with excitement, and kept saying “The penny! The Penny! It has to be real! The Penny!”
My friend looked at me funny, and wondered why I was so excited about a penny, instead of the powerful message from my dad… or so it seemed. I tried reminding her “The penny that seemed to fall out of nowhere?!?!” – but I hadn’t told her the story.
My mom eventually remarried, and saddly he passed of Pancratic cancer 2 years later. This time we found dimes. He always had a way of distinguishing himself…
Well, that friend passed away in March unexpectedly at the age of 29, and shortly thereafter my husband left me. I ran to the store late one night, and as I was returning to my car, there were three pennies, and three dimes sitting outside of my door. I knew my marriage was over, and I was sad, but that they were just saying “I’m still here” I’m doing really well, all considering – but I JUST learned the autopsy results, and have been on the internet researching and it was so upsetting, that I went to distract myself with the little history-lesson to solve the Colonial-Currency-Mystery. I came accross your blog – and since I’m snuggled in bed with a laptop on my lap – and no one could get a penny to me immediately – I know your testimony was their little way of saying ‘hi’ to comfort me. The digital penny-from-heaven.
Hi there. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I’ve been moving. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that your story touched me and I am so glad that my blog could be the digital penny from heaven for you. I think your friend was very clever sending you to my blog just when you needed it.
I’ve since found more pennies from my sister too. The latest one was last week as I was getting ready for my trip to Europe. I was nervous about the long flight and the fact that I had to go over the airspace of NY/NJ where Hurricane Sandy was still wreaking havoc and I took it as a message from her that said ‘Don’t worry. It’s all going to be fine. Enjoy your trip!’ As it is my flight was perfect and we even arrived early due to the winds from Sandy. 🙂
